EVERY DAY IN LOCAL AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITIES, INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES SUFFER
FOOD INSECURITY

Together become a solution to food insecurity in local communities everywhere.

AUSSIES ARE HUNGRY

THE PROBLEM

The COVID-19 pandemic and a global economic slowdown, have driven millions of families into food insecurity throughout the world. With this in mind, now is the perfect time for Convoy of Hope to increase our capacity, and activate more partners and volunteers so that families in Australia and the Oceania Region have the food and supplies they need to move to food security. To meet these needs, we must increase our capacity to warehouse and distribute more food while partnering with more businesses, schools, churches and organisations. Through prayer and due diligence we are moving towards a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) approach. One sole organisation, business, church or school, cannot be the solution to food insecurity, but together we can make a positive impact in our communities. Partnerships between all these bodies will be the underlying strength that hold an RDC together. The RDC becomes a store/reserve for the community so that when food insecurity presents, it is a ready solution and operates through the combined efforts of the community. Please journey with us, as together we become a solution to food insecurity in local communities everywhere.

REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTRES (RDC)

A Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) is both a gathering location for food and supplies and a distribution point to ensure those in need receive the food and supplies needed. Regional Distri- bution Centres (RDC) will allow Convoy of Hope to partner with families in need by activating friends from businesses, churches, schools and organisations.

• Convoy’s geographic diversity will enable us to meet needs faster, more effectively, and efficiently.

• RDCs will be positioned for quick response during a disaster.
• RDCs will serve as a central hub for partners and volunteers to serve, learn, and respond so

that families in need have hope beyond their circumstances.

• RDCs will become centres for training in compassion and disaster response.

• RDCs will receive food, supplies and ‘Gift in Kind’ from businesses, churches, schools and organisations.

Hands of Hope is a program operated out of a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) to give an opportunity for members of our community to roll up their sleeves and practically be involved in the bringing, packing, storing and delivering of food/baby/pet packs to those in our community that are facing food insecurity or need a helping hand.

NEXT STEPS

1. Host a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC)

Ideally a local church or organisation could host an RDC in a community. Depending on the location a RDC could look like:
1. Ashippingcontaineronaproperty
2. A spare space in a local church building

3. A warehouse type facility
4. A converted community hall
If you would like to host a Regional Distribution Centre please fill out the form below.

2. Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities within the RDC operations where volunteers can be part of the process:

  • Bringing resource/supplies (purchasing/shopping for pack supplies)

  • Packing hampers (volunteers pack food/baby/pet packs)

  • Delivering hampers (volunteers use pastoral relationships and community knowledge to deliver packs to those who need them most)
