Transforming Generations Through Nutrition, Opportunity, & Hope

Convoy of Hope helps communities break the bonds of poverty by focusing on local strengths and resources rather than just addressing needs. By identifying and leveraging existing skills, relationships, and resources within communities. Convoy empowers residents to drive their own development. This approach fosters self-reliance and resilience, as communities collaborate to create sustainable solutions tailored to their unique contexts.

Programs Working Together to Break the Cycle of Poverty

Children’s Feeding

When you feed children with Convoy of Hope, you open the door to tremendous possibilities. You and Convoy — together — are strategically investing at a critical time in their lives. By feeding children in schools, we are providing them with the vital nutrition they need to thrive.

Women’s Empowerment

When women participate in the Convoy of Hope Women’s Empowerment program, the cycle of poverty is broken. With your help, Convoy partners with women as they start their own businesses and support their families. Empowering women and girls to advocate for themselves creates opportunities that last for generations.

Agricultural Training

Through Convoy’s agriculture training, you give people the skills to break the cycle of poverty for themselves. Convoy’s agriculture specialists teach production methods that encourage long-term sustainable practices. With improved practices and larger yields, farmers are often able to give back to Convoy’s strategic feeding programs.

Impact

Behind every number is a story.

Your Role in Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

It’s our collective responsibility to support those in need worldwide. Together, we can uphold dignity, and involve those in need in shaping the aid they receive.

True compassion means listening to their voices and respecting their choices, rather than imposing solutions. By empowering individuals to guide the process, we foster respect, autonomy, and effective, meaningful assistance.

The global cycle of poverty is a pervasive issue, where poverty perpetuates itself across generations. Individuals in impoverished conditions often lack access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, which limits their ability to improve their circumstances.

Systemic barriers, such as inadequate social safety nets, discrimination, and unstable economies, exacerbate these challenges. Additionally, poor living conditions can lead to health problems that hinder educational and employment opportunities. Breaking free from poverty is difficult because these intertwined factors create a vicious cycle where escaping one issue often means confronting several others, making long-term progress challenging.

Addressing these root causes requires comprehensive, multifaceted solutions.

We believe everyone deserves to live a life pursuing what they value, caring for themselves and caring for others, so we hope to see individuals and communities transformed to enable that.

Convoy of Hope recognises that every community is unique and so our approach is unique, but the one thing that is consistent in the work that we do is listening to the community and letting them lead the conversation of their future.

And as we walk through that process we hope to see impact on more than just an individual’s finances but their entire person and their entire family by offering a range of expertise and a variety of programs to help address education, food insecurity, and gender inequality.

Providing nutrition, empowerment, and opportunity.

Convoy of Hope’s integrated program means that it is ingrained within what we do and how we operate for our programs to blend, overlap, and build upon one another. Training moms to cultivate a school garden that they use to cook meals at their kid’s school doesn’t fit in a clean box of what program it is. It is the expertise of everyone connecting with the local community to identify the solutions that are right for them.

  • Children’s Feeding – Our Children’s Feeding initiative seeks to meet communities where they are at, to address immediate needs, and to provide opportunities that may not otherwise exist for children to stay in or prioritise their education, equipping them for a brighter future. In some communities that may be feeding children in school what could be their only meal of the day so their parents choose to send them to school rather than work. In other communities it may be feeding children at an after-school tutoring center to encourage them to work hard and achieve academic success; helping children believe their future can hold whatever possibility they dream of.
  • Women’s Empowerment – Our Women’s Empowerment initiative seeks to address gender inequality through one of the most powerful forces in a community, the women. Providing community to women and girls who feel alone and are struggling to understand their worth. Providing new moms with safe places to learn about taking care of their children, keeping them well nourished, and developing appropriately. Teaching business skills, helping to set-up savings groups, and enabling women to start their own businesses. All of which create community, help them to discover their own innate value, and provide the groundwork for one of the most beautiful things we have the privilege of seeing. Individuals realising they have the opportunity to care for others despite the circumstances they find themselves in.
  • Agriculture – Our Agriculture initiative seeks to address food insecurity by creating local sustainable sources of food. From improving efficiency on a two acre broccoli farm, to training cultivation of a community garden that provides vegetables to half a dozen families, to teaching children to plant a single tomato plant in their window so they begin to see the value of producing their own food, agriculture can look like a lot of things. But it all comes together so that families, when presented with the next drought or job loss or war, can weather the challenge, provide for themselves, and care for others.
Asset Based Community Development

ABCD is a strategy or approach to development work that seeks to view communities through an asset focused lens rather than a needs focused lens. In many ways, it is a mindset shift on how we approach development work that is not only rooted in the direction of the sector but in our core belief that all people are made in the image of God with innate dignity and worth. People are so much more than the things they lack. They are more than single mothers or struggling farmers; they are artists and inventors. ABCD is simply a strategy that reflects that belief and enables communities to further take ownership of their journey.
